Serenity Prayer...with a twist

I came across a notebloc in the Rubbermaid archives. It's printed with the following "prayer":

God grant me the courage to change the things I cannot accept; the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the strength to bury the bodies of those I was forced to kill; and the wisdom to avoid stepping on toes which may be connected to asses I may have to kiss tomorrow.

I think this is my new favorite saying. I'll have it enlarged and pasted over my desk.

Hey, it's a prayer that will come true! ;)

Why do girls at that age always seem so much smarter than I was? Ho hum. Maturity, bleh! ;)

But seriously, you had a good head on your shoulders even back then!

hahah you prayed this prayer?
you know, I found that God does have a sense of humor, he probably delighted in this prayer. Just a thought.

I like the 'bury the bodies' part. Made me grin.

I once had a neighbor in the apartment below me who was loud, obnoxious, and abusive to his least verbally. One evening I was sitting by my window reading and he started screaming at the child...all of two years old. I leaned out the window and with all the sincerity I could muster I said "If you touch that child I WILL come down there. And I WILL kill you. Yours wouldn't be the first body I've had to get rid of." I think because I could say that with the uttermost sincerity (I worked at a funeral home at the time, picking up bodies) he freaked. There was instant silence, they shut their windows and went to bed, and as long as he still lived there he ran inside whenever he saw me. Mind you, I'm not a big man, but I was so sincere!
